Make Way for 5G

There’s been a lot of ‘switch-off’ talk in the Telecommunications world, but have you heard about the end of 3G?

This year is when that switch off will slowly begin. With Vodafone pledging to switch off their network by December 2023 and EE following shortly after in 2024.

But it’s not a bad thing! Because whilst 3G is still widely used, it’s become outdated with the arrival of 4G and 5G networks. So what’s the benefits of this new technology, specifically 5G, and how can you access it?

5 Benefits of 5G

Here’s our top 5 benefits of using a 5G network:

  1. Super speedy: 5G networks have the potential to be up to 100 times faster than 4G, allowing for almost instantaneous downloads and streaming.

  2. Less delays: 5G networks can reduce latency to around 1 millisecond, which is important for many of your applications to run smoothly.

  3. Better capacity: 5G networks can support a larger number of devices and users, making it easier to connect everything from smartphones to IoT devices.

  4. More reliable: 5G networks are designed to be more reliable and resilient than previous generations, meaning fewer dropped calls and better overall connectivity – what’s not to love?

  5. More apps: 5G networks can enable new applications and technologies than before, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and more.

So really the switch off from 3G isn’t bad at all. Just remember that if you’re using an older device, then you’ll need to upgrade if you wish to continue using network data.
